My first post ever!

I have been toying around with the idea of writing a blog to follow my journey from half-marathon runner and occasional cyclist and swimmer to half-ironman triathlete. After debating what name I should give my blog, and checking in with my friend Devon, an actual writer, I have settled on "The Tired Running Shoe", partly because it's a unique blog name that no one else is using (yay!), and partly because I often am tempted to use fatigue as a reason to skip out on my runs and other workouts!

My goal for this blog is to chronicle my training experiences from now until July 1st, 2012, when I will complete the Great White North half-ironman triathlon in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada. Thankfully, I will be training with a few friends, at least one of which completed this race last year, and so her wisdom from experience will help guide me on my journey as well.

It is December 29th, and 2011 is almost over, and I don't have an official training plan yet! For now, I plan to follow a training plan for running a half-marathon that's in May, and trying to include at least one weekly spin class, and at least 2 swims a week, plus perhaps a yoga class. But I would feel so much more secure with an actual training plan, created by someone who knows what they're doing! Today I asked my Facebook friends and the Twitterverse for possible training plans...we will have to see what turns up!
